Ferrara Fire Apparatus recently delivered a medium-duty rescue unit to the Melrose Park Fire Department. The unit is built on a Freightliner M2106 chassis and features a mobile command center, a powerful light tower, essential rescue tools, and ample storage for multiple air cylinders. This new addition enhances the department's ability to respond to a wide range of emergency situations.
Last year, Ferrara missed delivering two Intruder 2 engine units to the same department. These engines are equipped with HME 1871 cabs and chassis, featuring 1500 GPM pumps and 500 gallons of onboard water. The units are designed for quick response and high-performance firefighting operations.
The newly delivered rescue unit has already been put into service and is receiving positive feedback from the team. In addition, the department is looking forward to the arrival of the previously delayed Intruder 2 engines, which will further strengthen their fleet.
Another recent delivery by Ferrara was an Intruder 2 engine to the Bolingbrook Fire Department. This unit also features the HME 1871 cab and chassis, along with the same high-capacity pump and water tank. Photos of both units have been shared online, giving the public a glimpse of the advanced technology being used by local fire departments.
Ferrara is currently working on a custom rear-mount tower ladder for the Algonquin-Lake in the Hills Fire Department. This unit will be equipped with an extended Inferno cab featuring an 8-inch notched roof extension, providing better visibility and comfort for the crew. The 100-foot tower will include a 1500 GPM pump and carry 300 gallons of water, making it a versatile tool for high-rise and large-scale incidents.
