Autodesk BIM 360 Design, a key component of Autodesk Construction Cloud, continues to evolve with the addition of essential features and services. Among these is a new Europe-based data center for primary storage of project data, offering customers greater flexibility and control over where their information is hosted. Additionally, BIM 360 Design now integrates with Collaboration for Plant 3D, enhancing the platform’s capabilities for plant design teams.
Used across more than 150 countries and supporting around 40,000 projects, BIM 360 Design enables real-time collaboration among architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC) professionals. Whether working within a single company or across multiple organizations and disciplines, users can access and manage projects from anywhere, ensuring seamless communication and efficiency.
The launch of the Europe data center reflects the growing global demand for cloud-based solutions and the need for localized data storage. This move supports the increasing number of users in the region, who have seen a significant rise in project creation and usage of BIM 360 Design. In fact, the number of subscribers in Europe nearly doubled since the start of Q1FY20, and globally, new project creation increased by approximately 350% as remote work became the norm.
In response to the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, Autodesk offered free access to BIM 360 Design for Revit through its Extended Access Program until May 31, 2020, helping teams stay productive and connected during a time of uncertainty.
Nicolas Mangon, Vice President of AEC Business Strategy and Marketing at Autodesk, highlighted the importance of cloud collaboration: “The exponential growth in BIM 360 Design users over the past two years shows how complex projects and teams have become. In today's environment, the need for continuity and flexibility has never been greater.â€
Alex Mortiboys, Head of BIM at Dutch firm Office of Metropolitan Architecture (OMA), emphasized the value of the European data center: “With confidence in local data storage, we can expand our use of BIM 360 Design for clients across Europe and beyond, improving efficiency and transparency in our projects.â€
Beyond the new data center, BIM 360 Design now offers integration with AutoCAD Plant 3D, enabling plant designers and engineers to manage access permissions, share files securely, and collaborate more effectively across different time zones and organizations.
Dave Reed, Technology Manager at Black & Veatch, praised the integration: “With AutoCAD Plant 3D, BIM 360 provides a centralized location for all project data, simplifying access for our global teams and boosting collaboration without requiring specialized IT systems.â€
Whether you're managing large-scale infrastructure or complex architectural projects, BIM 360 Design helps your team stay connected in the cloud, ensuring smooth workflows and high-quality results for your clients.
