Hi everyone,
I just got back from visiting the Palos Fire District. It was such an exciting day because they had some brand-new vehicles for us to check out. I couldn’t resist snapping a few photos while I was there.
First up is their shiny new Truck 6304. It’s a 2014 Pierce Velocity with a 105-foot ladder—impressive! They parked it at Station 1 where it looks like it’s ready to tackle any emergency that comes its way. I also managed to get some shots of their old Truck 6304, which is being replaced. That one will soon be turned into a dive unit. The firefighters were super friendly and even let me take pictures of their new Ambulance 6302, which is based at Station 2.
Ambulance 6302 is a 2014 Ford F-450, and it’s absolutely state-of-the-art. One cool thing is that the older Ambulance 6302 is getting a makeover too—it’ll serve as part of their dive team now. You can really see the evolution in design when comparing the old and new ambulances side by side. It’s fascinating how much technology has improved over the years.
I’m attaching some of the photos I took. There’s one of the previous truck model, which is still quite impressive in its own right. Then there’s a shot of the driver’s side of the new Pierce Velocity truck. It’s sleek and modern, perfect for handling anything the district throws at it. There’s also a close-up of the new ambulance, showing off its rear section. It’s equipped with everything needed to handle medical emergencies efficiently.
One of the most interesting parts of my visit was seeing how they’re repurposing the older equipment. The old ambulance that used to be Ambulance 6302 now has a new role as part of their dive team. It’s great to see them making the most of their resources. I think this transition shows dedication and forward-thinking on behalf of the Palos Fire District.
Anyway, hope you enjoy these pictures! Let me know what you think about the upgrades.
Best,
Martin
