At present, Tianjin has 880 quasi-finished products, and the city can produce 26 kinds of Chinese medicines such as pills, tablets, and injections. There are 50 varieties of traditional Chinese medicines protected, and 218 varieties are registered and sold overseas, of which 118 are registered with medicines.
Strikingly, a listed company in Tianjin is carrying out a difficult "declaration" activity. Its production of a pill for heart disease is expected to pass the US FDA certification. This medicine has billions of dollars in sales every year in China. The size of such pills, such as yellow rice, can serve as first aid and health care.
The city has used the research and development capabilities of institutions of higher learning and scientific research institutes and has successively established the State Key Laboratory of Drug Metabolism, Tianjin New Drug Research Center, Tianjin Traditional Chinese Medicine Research Center, Tianjin Traditional Chinese Medicine Modern Technology Engineering Center, and the quality of modern Chinese medicine. The inspection center and two state-level enterprise technology centers have been awarded GLP certifications for the new drug safety evaluation and research center, which has formed a modern science and technology innovation system for traditional Chinese medicine.
