Jinan Steel has made new breakthroughs in the field of regenerative heating furnace technology

Recently, the "regenerative burner" technology independently developed by Jinan Iron and Steel Group has officially received the "Practical Model Patent Certificate" from the State Intellectual Property Office, marking a significant breakthrough in regenerative heating furnace technology. This innovation not only highlights the company's technological capabilities but also sets a new standard in the industry. In recent years, regenerative heating furnaces have gained widespread popularity due to their ability to efficiently burn low-calorific-value gases. However, during the process of large-scale application, challenges such as heat storage balls clumping, sticking, clogging, and short service life (typically 6 to 8 months) have remained major issues. These problems often prevent the systems from operating in sync with the production line throughout the year. To address these challenges, the Jinan Steel Plate Plant drew on years of practical experience and combined it with scientific analysis to drive innovation. In August 2005, they successfully developed an independent short-tube heat storage unit and applied it to the 3# heating furnace. This new design offers several advantages: it reduces heat penetration depth, improves heat transfer efficiency, minimizes resistance loss, and ensures better stack volume stability. Most notably, it demonstrates excellent gas permeability and strong anti-clogging performance. As a result, the service life of the regenerator has been extended to two years—far surpassing the industry average. The successful application of this regenerator on the regenerative burner marked the first of its kind in China. On August 1 this year, the technology was granted a national utility model patent. The implementation of this patented solution is expected to bring substantial economic benefits to enterprises, enhancing both efficiency and profitability. With its proven performance and long-term reliability, this innovation is set to play a key role in the future development of industrial heating technologies.
