This afternoon (October 4, 2016), just before 2 PM, a neighbor in Northbrook called the Fire Department to report smoke coming from the house located at 1801 Oak Avenue. When the first Northbrook unit arrived, they noticed visible smoke, and the emergency response level was quickly elevated to a Code 4, indicating an active fire. Firefighters managed to contain what appeared to be a basement fire that had spread upward, burning through part of the floor above.
The scene was bustling with support from neighboring departments. Northfield's Truck 29, Glenview's Truck 14, Wheeling's Engine 23, and Lincolnshire-Riverwoods' Ambulance 52 were all present, alongside Northbrook’s Engines 10 & 11, Truck 12, Ambulances 10 & 11, Battalion 11, and all three chiefs.
