Price and 2.0 quite new Mondeo 2.5 listed before and after the Spring Festival

In recent months, there have been rumors circulating about the potential discontinuation of the 2.0L Mondeo model by Changan Ford, especially after the Spring Festival. However, these claims were quickly denied by the company. According to industry news, some reports suggested that Changan Ford had stopped producing the 2.0L version in order to prepare for the upcoming launch of the 2.5L Mondeo next year. But on December 17, a senior executive from Changan Ford clarified to reporters that the statement was false. The 2.0L Mondeo is not only still in production but is also operating with overtime shifts to meet growing market demand. The so-called production stoppage might have stemmed from temporary stock shortages in certain regions, such as Sichuan. Some local dealers interpreted the lack of inventory as an indication that the model was being discontinued, which led to confusion among customers and media. A spokesperson for Ford Tuning at Changan Ford explained that this misunderstanding likely arose from the limited availability of the 2.0L Mondeo in specific markets. Since the launch of the first car from Changan Ford, the "Carnival," in January this year, the European-market Ford Mondeo has also begun production at the joint venture. Since its release, the Mondeo has gained significant popularity among car enthusiasts. In response to strong demand, Changan Ford organized a nationwide test-drive campaign in mid-November, which helped boost sales of both the Carnival and the Mondeo. "We are confident that by the end of this year, the combined sales of these two models will exceed 20,000 units," said a senior executive. To further strengthen its marketing efforts, Ford recently transferred several experienced executives from its U.S. headquarters and Ford Liuhe in Taiwan to Changan Ford. For example, Ye Mingxin, who recently joined from Ford Liuhe, now serves as a marketing consultant. An insider from Changan Ford noted that a highly experienced marketing professional from Ford’s Taiwan division will take charge of promoting high-end models like the Mondeo in the future. It is also reported that Changan Ford plans to continue expanding the Mondeo lineup next year. Ian Tinworth, a senior powertrain engineer at Ford's European Car Development Center, confirmed that the 2.5L Mondeo will be launched early next year, with a price similar to the current 2.0L model. By the end of this year, Changan Ford’s dealer network is expected to surpass 60, and it aims to reach 120 dealers by next year. This expansion of distribution channels will play a key role in supporting the company’s product launches. On October 17, Ford CEO Bill Ford announced in Beijing that Ford Motor Company and Changan Group will jointly invest $1 billion over the next few years to increase production capacity, introduce new models, and expand sales channels. Current plans for the expansion are nearly finalized. The location of the second factory and the associated engine plant, which has generated a lot of interest, is now basically confirmed and will be officially announced soon.
