This message comes from Larry Shapiro: A nearby resident contacted the Northbrook Fire Department this afternoon (October 4, 2016) just before 2 PM, reporting smoke coming from the house located at 1801 Oak Avenue. Upon arrival, the first responding Northbrook unit observed visible smoke, prompting the dispatch to upgrade the alarm to a Code 4 for an active fire. Firefighters managed to effectively contain what appeared to be a basement fire that had already burned through part of the floor above. The response included units from several neighboring departments. Northfield Truck 29, Glenview Truck 14, Wheeling Engine 23, and Lincolnshire-Riverwoods Ambulance 52 were present alongside Northbrook Engines 10 & 11, Truck 12, Ambulances 10 & 11, Battalion 11, and all three chief officers. Attached are some photos I took, capturing moments from the scene. You can see Glenview's Truck 14 and Wheeling's Engine 23 working together, as well as the smoke billowing from the affected house in Northbrook. There are also images of Northfield's Truck 29, and close-ups of Northbrook’s Engine 10 Pierce Impel PUC with hoses deployed. For more photos, you can visit shapirophotography.net. It was quite a scene, and everyone worked efficiently to get it under control. If you have any questions or need further details, feel free to reach out!
