The Bartlett Fire Protection District serves the Village of Bartlett, as well as unincorporated areas of Hoffman Estates and parts of Wayne Township. This unique setup places the district across two counties—Cook and DuPage. Bartlett is dispatched through DU-COMM but is also part of MABAS Division 2. The department operates from three stations: two with ambulances and engines, and one that houses a jump unit equipped with a tower ladder, a 3,000-gallon tanker, and a brush truck. Over the years, their apparatus have been painted in a black-and-red scheme, though they were once bright yellow. One of their older units, a 1993 Seagrave engine, was originally delivered in yellow and later repainted to match the current color scheme. Bartlett’s most recent apparatus include three Pierce Velocity engines. Before that, they had two E-ONE units, which were preceded by a pair of Seagrave engines. In the 1980s, the department, then known as Bartlett and Countryside FPD, acquired several Howe and Grumman engines, marking an early phase of their fleet development. Among the notable historical units is Engine 612, a 1993 Seagrave TB30DF that was originally painted yellow and later changed to black and red. It was one of two similar units delivered around that time. Another historic unit, Engine 618, was a Ford C8000 chassis built by Grumman FireCat in 1982. These units featured 1,000-GPM pumps and 750-gallon tanks. Earlier models included Hendrickson/Howe engines from the 1970s, such as Engine 613 and 612, both with 1,000-GPM pumps and 750-gallon water tanks. A 1963 Ford C950/Howe engine, #616, was another early model, featuring a 1,000-GPM pump and 800 gallons of water. In addition to engines, Bartlett has a 3,000-gallon HME/US Tanker, one of only three in the area, shared with Palatine Rural and East Dundee FPDs. These tankers worked together during a major fire in Barrington in 2008. Prior to this, Bartlett operated an 8,000-gallon tractor-trailer tanker, which was eventually replaced by the HME model. The old 8,000-gallon unit was powered by an L-Series Ford tractor and played a critical role in large-scale incidents, including a 3-11 alarm fire in 1994 at Pepper Road and Route 14. These vehicles not only reflect the evolution of Bartlett's firefighting capabilities but also highlight the community's long-standing commitment to public safety and emergency response.
