Yuhuan No. 1 Machine Tool Plant developed industrial robot

The journey of industrial robot development has long been a dream for many in the machinery industry. After three years of dedicated research and innovation, the Kanmen Machine Tool Plant in Yumen County has finally turned that dream into reality. Their newly developed industrial robots are designed to perform hazardous tasks or heavy-duty operations around the clock with precision, efficiency, and unwavering consistency. “Traditionally, mechanical stamping involved workers manually placing metal sheets into dies, which posed significant risks,” explained Yuan Xiaoping, an engineer at the plant. “With the introduction of our punching robot, we’ve eliminated dangers like finger injuries, making the process much safer.” But the motivation behind developing these robots goes beyond just safety. The head of the Kanmen Machine Tool Plant shared that the initiative was driven by real market needs. “In coastal industrial areas, there’s a growing shortage of skilled labor. Many workers no longer want to do repetitive, tedious, or dangerous jobs. This is where industrial robots come in — they fill the gap and improve productivity.” In February 2004, the plant launched its own independent robot development project. By December of the same year, they were on track to complete the prototype, which will be showcased at the Beijing Machine Tool Fair in April of the following year. Looking ahead, the plant's leader believes that integrating these robots with a system known as a "flexible production line" could revolutionize manufacturing. “When combined with this advanced setup, our robots can significantly enhance efficiency and even enable fully automated workshop management,” he added. This breakthrough not only marks a milestone for Kanmen Machine Tool Plant but also signals a promising shift toward smarter, safer, and more efficient industrial practices.
