On Sunday morning, the Maywood Fire Department responded to a serious fire at a vacant three-story building located at 907 S. 3rd Ave. As the situation escalated, companies on scene activated a Box Alarm due to heavy flames in the attic and on the top floor. Both Maywood and Melrose Park fire crews were on the scene working together to contain the blaze. Gordon J. Nord, Jr., a local photographer, was present and captured a series of powerful images that illustrate the intensity of the fire and the efforts of the responding units. His photos provide a vivid look into the challenging conditions faced by firefighters during the incident.
