From the MABAS Illinois Facebook page: We are deeply saddened to share this update: Firefighter/Paramedic Paul Miller’s condition remains unchanged—he is still on life support—and medical professionals have confirmed that recovery is no longer possible. In accordance with Paul’s own wishes, his family has made the difficult decision to withdraw life support. In keeping with Paul’s selfless spirit and the generous heart he always carried, several of his organs will be donated to help others live. His gift of life will continue through those who receive his organs. The donation process may take between 36 to 72 hours, as it involves multiple steps and coordination with transplant teams. On Tuesday, April 23rd at 4:00 PM, a special flag ceremony will take place at the main hospital flagpole of Advocate Condell Medical Center, located at 801 S. Milwaukee Ave in Libertyville. A "Gift of Hope" flag will be raised in honor of Paul’s incredible generosity. The ceremony, led by Chaplain David Haley from the Des Plaines Fire Department, will be open to all available personnel. The organ donation process is complex and can vary depending on match testing, recipient notifications, and other logistical factors. While these processes typically take more than 24 hours, exact timelines are not yet known. Updates will follow as more information becomes available. Sincerely,
Alan Wax, Fire Chief, Des Plaines Fire Department
Tony Huemann, Fire Chief, McHenry Township Fire Protection District From the Des Plaines Professional Firefighters Association IAFF Local 4211: Today, we ask you to keep Paul and his family in your thoughts and prayers during this incredibly tough time. Paul was a true hero, both in his service and in his kindness. His legacy will live on through the lives he touched—both on and off the job. Paul's story is a reminder of the courage and sacrifice that firefighters make every day. As we mourn his passing, we also celebrate the gift he gave to others through his organ donation. This is a moment of deep loss, but also of hope and compassion. We invite everyone to join us in honoring Paul’s memory and supporting his family during this difficult time. tea can,tea tin packaging, tea tin packaging, metal tea tin Zhoushan Xinmei Packaging Products Co., Ltd , https://www.xinmeipackage.com
