Berwyn 2-11 alarm fire at 28th and Ridgeland

Saturday, April 23, 2011 â€“ 5:30 PM: Berwyn firefighters are currently dealing with a severe 2-11 alarm fire at the intersection of 28th and Ridgeland in a three-story apartment building. The fire has been burning for approximately an hour and has now spread through the roof. Due to the intensity of the flames, crews have been ordered to retreat from the structure, shifting the operation to a defensive strategy. Ladder pipes are actively in use, and heavy fire is clearly visible from multiple angles. Josh Boyajian is on-site and has shared several powerful images capturing the ongoing efforts.
