SAN RAFAEL, Calif., July 22, 2020 — Autodesk, Inc. (NASDAQ: ADSK) has announced its intention to acquire Pype, a leading provider of cloud-based tools that automate key construction workflows. This strategic move aims to further strengthen the capabilities of Autodesk Construction Cloud, enabling general contractors, subcontractors, and building owners to streamline operations, reduce risks, and improve overall project performance. Pype's platform is designed to eliminate manual data entry and minimize human error, which are common causes of rework, cost overruns, and delays in construction projects. By using artificial intelligence and machine learning, Pype automatically extracts and analyzes critical project data from plans and specifications, making it easier for teams to collaborate and make informed decisions throughout the project lifecycle. The company serves major construction firms such as Barton Malow, JE Dunn, McCarthy, Mortenson, and Skanska. Since 2017, Autodesk has been actively investing in and acquiring construction technology startups. Notable acquisitions include Assemble, BuildingConnected, and PlanGrid, with total investments exceeding $1.1 billion. This latest acquisition of Pype continues Autodesk’s commitment to transforming the construction industry through digital innovation. "The future of construction is bright, and we're committed to helping builders succeed even in uncertain times," said Andrew Anagnost, CEO of Autodesk. "Pype's AI-driven solutions will help our customers connect and optimize workflows across the entire building lifecycle, ensuring long-term resilience and growth." "We’re excited to join forces with Autodesk and expand our mission of automating construction workflows," said Sunil Dorairajan, CEO and co-founder of Pype. "With this partnership, we look forward to delivering even more value to construction teams by improving productivity and reducing risk at every stage of a project." "JE Dunn has always been at the forefront of digital transformation in construction," said John Jacobs, CIO of JE Dunn. "Working with both Autodesk and Pype has allowed us to build robust, automated processes. Combining their technologies will accelerate the evolution of our industry and drive greater efficiency." Autodesk Construction Cloud brings together Assemble, BIM 360, BuildingConnected, and PlanGrid into one powerful platform that supports collaboration, project management, and predictive insights. It connects teams across offices, field sites, and headquarters to improve communication and productivity. Following the acquisition, Pype’s tools will be integrated into Autodesk Construction Cloud. Key features include: "Manual workflows are still a big challenge in construction," said Jim Lynch, VP and GM of Autodesk Construction Solutions. "Pype’s intelligent tools turn data into actionable insights, helping teams deliver projects on time and within budget."
"AI is changing how we manage construction projects," added Karuna Ammireddy, CTO of Pype. "By combining our solutions with Autodesk’s platform, we can help customers mitigate risk and achieve better outcomes at every stage of the process." Transaction Details: The deal is expected to close during Autodesk’s third quarter of fiscal 2021, ending October 31, 2020. It will not impact the company’s second-quarter or full-year financial guidance for fiscal 2021. For more information about the acquisition, visit the accompanying PDF here.
