Yuhuan No. 1 Machine Tool Plant developed industrial robot
The journey of industrial robot development has long been a dream for many machinery manufacturers. After three years of dedicated research and development, the Kanmen Machine Tool Plant in Yumen County finally turned that dream into reality. Their newly developed industrial robots are capable of performing a wide range of dangerous or physically demanding tasks around the clock with precision, efficiency, and no signs of fatigue.
"The traditional method of mechanical stamping involves workers manually placing metal sheets into dies, which can be extremely hazardous," said Yuan Xiaoping, an engineer at the plant. "With the introduction of the punching robot, we’ve significantly reduced the risk of accidents like finger injuries, making the workplace much safer."
However, the motivation behind Kanmen Machine Tool Plant’s push to develop industrial robots goes beyond just safety. "In coastal industrial areas, there's a growing shortage of skilled labor," explained the plant's director. "Many workers are unwilling to take on repetitive, tedious, or dangerous jobs. This is where industrial robots come in—meeting a real market demand for automation."
In February 2004, the company officially launched its own industrial robot development project. By December of the same year, they had completed the prototype and planned to showcase it at the Beijing Machine Tool Fair in April of the following year.
Looking ahead, the plant’s director believes that combining these robots with a system known as a "flexible production line" could revolutionize manufacturing processes. "This integration will not only enhance productivity but also pave the way for fully automated workshop management," he added. With this vision, Kanmen Machine Tool Plant is stepping boldly into the future of intelligent manufacturing.
