Hey Jeff,
I just came across this announcement on the Antioch Fire Department's website and thought you'd want to know about it. It seems like things have changed quite a bit for emergency services in the area.
The Village of Antioch has decided to take over ambulance services starting June 1st. They've chosen Superior Air Ground Ambulance Service to provide two fully equipped ambulances along with four on-duty fire and EMS personnel. This move comes after the Antioch Rescue Squad (ARS), which used to handle these services, decided not to renew their contract. At their last meeting, ARS turned down an offer from the village board to keep going for another six months. Now, the Antioch Fire Department will be managing both firefighting and paramedic services for the community.
For those who live in Antioch, they'll have better access to emergency help since the new ambulances will be stationed at Fire Station 1 on Holbek Drive and Fire Station 2 on Deep Lake Road. The fire department already has Advanced Life Support (ALS) engines ready, so they're well-equipped to handle any emergencies that come their way.
It's interesting how quickly things can change. I remember reading your earlier post about ARS leaving, and now it looks like the fire department is stepping up to fill the gap. Let me know if there's anything else you think I should keep an eye out for.
Take care!
