New Ambulances in Lake Villa
The Lake Villa Fire District has recently acquired two new ambulances, both Type III units manufactured in 2011 by Osage and built on Ford E-450 chassis. According to Jeff Rudolph, who provided the information, neither of these units has been assigned a number yet, and they appear to be identical in appearance and configuration.
From what can be determined, Ambulance 243, which was previously assigned the unit from 2005, has been retired. Ambulance 242 was renumbered to 244, and Ambulance 244 was then renumbered to 245. The whereabouts of the older Ambulance 241 remain unclear. The two brand-new units are expected to take the numbers 241 and 242, replacing the older models currently in service.
As reported in an earlier update, the new ambulances are painted in a striking red color. This is a notable change from the current fleet, which features a blue and white color scheme that was introduced when the Lake Villa Rescue Squad was established. The shift to red marks a visual evolution for the department’s emergency response vehicles.
Two images have been shared to illustrate the new arrivals. The first photo shows one of the 2011 Osage Type III ambulances, which will be assigned as Ambulance 242. This is the first time the department has used a red ambulance, making it a significant milestone. The second image appears to show the previous ambulance assigned to 242, now being reassigned to 244.
These new units are set to replace the existing 2010 Osage-built ambulance that was previously stationed at Ambulance 242. That unit is now being moved to Station 2 and will be renumbered as Ambulance 244. The introduction of these newer, more modern ambulances is expected to improve response capabilities and provide better equipment for paramedics and emergency medical technicians.
