9/11 symphonic band concert in Buffalo Grove with 9/11 remembrance
The Village of Buffalo Grove, the Buffalo Grove Symphonic Band, and the Buffalo Grove Arts Commission came together for a heartfelt public concert to honor the 10th anniversary of the tragic events of September 11, 2001. The event, held in memory of the lives lost in New York, Washington, D.C., and Pennsylvania, featured guest speakers, musical performances, and a special ceremony led by the Buffalo Grove Fire and Police Department Honor Guard.
Congressman Robert Dold and a U.S. Army General addressed the crowd, reflecting on the significance of 9/11 and acknowledging the resilience of the American people. Between performances by the symphonic band, the audience was reminded of the sacrifices made by first responders and those who lost their lives that day. The ceremony included a powerful moment with the Buffalo Grove Fire Department’s bell ringing, accompanied by a moving rendition of "Amazing Grace" played by a member of the Chicago Highlanders Pipe Band.
A bagpiper joined the event, adding a solemn and emotional tone to the remembrance. The Buffalo Grove Fire and Police Department Honor Guard was present, along with local Boy Scouts, who helped post the colors during the ceremony. Their presence served as a tribute to the bravery and dedication of those who protect and serve.
